Join us for our first Reuse & Recycling Pop-Up of the year with our friends at the Chicago Waldorf School!
- You’ll have an opportunity to drop off items for reuse, repurposing or reclamation, as well as ones that are difficult to recycle and don’t belong in our blue carts.
- Before you leave home, check out our updated list of accepted items so your visit goes smoothly. There are several updates, including many recycling programs that have been discontinued.

Nandi of BLISS JOY BULL is offering a drop-off clothing repair service. Items will be mended off-site and you can pick them up from Lilla Barn, 5535 N Clark St, about 2 weeks after the event. Please bring your items in a marked paper or cloth bag with your info attached. Payment is due at drop-off. Please see our info page for what we do and don't do here. Learn the basics of hand sewing with visible mending techniques for repairing your clothes. This workshop will cover:
- Different stitches for repairing clothes with decorative stitches
- Practical stitches for broken seams
- The best tools and materials for repairing woven garments
- How to identify woven fabrics
- Each student will create a mending sampler for you to practice the repair techniques
- This is an introductory class for all skill levels
- Materials included in the ticket price
Wednesday, February 26, 6:30 - 8:30 PM | Intro to Darning with Darning Looms | Indigo & Violet Studio, 1411 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago 60613 | TICKETS
- Make your holey sweaters wearable again with darning. Learn how to repair holes in knitwear by darning a hole by hand and with a Speedweve-style darning loom. This two-hour class will guide you through the process of creating and darning a rectangular patch with yarn. You will learn the best tools and materials for repairing knitwear with darning. Bring your own sweater with a 1” hole or smaller to repair!
