    Learn the basics of hand sewing with visible mending techniques for repairing your clothes. This 2-hour workshop will cover:

    • Different stitches for repairing clothes with decorative stitches
    • Practical stitches for broken seams
    • The best tools and materials for repairing woven garments
    • How to identify woven fabrics
    • Each student will create a mending sampler to practice the repair techniques
    • This is an introductory class for all skill levels
    • Mending kit included in the ticket price - thread snips not included - those and extra sashiko thread can be purchased after class

    We're back at it! Join us for the first clinic of the year, where we will deal with your worn out and broken objects with a zealous curiosity enjoyed by the well-rested. For newcomers, our group of handy volunteers will sew, test, glue, nail, rewire, and whatever else it takes in an attempt to resurrect your items. Or, we'll tell you why we couldn't (missing part, exploded, evil, etc.).
    Our friends at Bluestem Restoration are hosting us as usual, and we're eager to see what y'all dragged out of the grave or broke over the holidays. Basic deets:
    We have a hard stop at 3pm, so please bring your items on the early side to ensure we have time to work on it.
    THINGS WE FIX
    • Clothes (please wash in advance)
    • Kitchen appliances
    • Ceramics
    • Small furniture (chairs, etc.)
    • Toys
    • Knick-knacks & tchotchkes
    • Broken Hearts? I mean, I think we're pretty good looking.
    • ...basically, just bring in anything and we'll do what we can (unless it's a printer, in which case we will likely call the time of death without even opening it up)

    • Make your holey denim wearable again with visible mending.
    • Learn how to repair holes in denim by stitching decorative stitches with sashiko-style stitching.
    • This two hour class will guide you through the process of patching a hole in denim and walk you through the steps of repairing thigh/crotch holes.
    • You will learn the best tools and materials for repairing denim.
    • Bring your own denim - jeans or jacket - with a 1” hole or smaller to repair!
    • Some materials provided - bring your own needles and scissors!
